This is a blog about my husband Tyler.

He is awesome. He is a great father, a loving husband, and quite the introvert. He also talks in his sleep and has a sleep disorder called “Confused Arousal”. This means that he wakes up from dreams and has a hard time realizing the things from his dreams are not real. He also has some anxiety, so his dreams are usually unsettling. More often than not he wakes up screaming. I am glad he at least told me this before we got married. So when it first happened, I was not completely surprised.
The first incident was 3 weeks into our marriage. We were staying at a hotel while stopping over on a trip to visit his parents. We’d been asleep about an hour, when I woke up because Tyler had pulled all of the blankets off the bed. He was standing at the corner of the foot of the bed, with the blankets bundled in his arms, screaming “NO! NO! NO!”
I started talking him down and telling him to get back in bed. He continued to hyperventilate for 30 seconds while saying “I know. I know. I know.” He then got back into bed, gave the blankets back, and fell asleep.
Things like this happen periodically. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s disconcerting. Sometimes he remembers what happened, sometimes he doesn’t.
This blog is meant to keep track of what he does. Sometimes I talk in my sleep, and I have sons who have already started to show signs of sleep talk. I will share things that all of us do. We hope you enjoy our sleep talk adventures.
